The latest word on DVD Upconversion is that Toshiba will be releasing their newest generation of DVD Upconverting Player - the Toshiba XD-E500. The XD-E500 is rumored to have full 24 fps/1080 upconverted resolution for standard definition DVDs. The XD-E500 is rumored to have a price of $149.99.

Toshiba’s Louis Masses states: “XDE is not just a branding of our existing upconverters. XDE is a new feature/technology which improves the picture quality of upconverted DVD’s even further and brings them to a level closer to HD. The goal is to simply offer the best picture quality we can from existing DVD’s.”
